Prayer Needs and Praises

• Iran War. Please pray for God's wisdom and mercy as the US continues military action in Iran. Please pray that our actions are guided by wisdom, and that the gospel would continue to go out powerfully during this time of change in Iran.
• Japan Earthquake. Please pray for comfort for those who lost loved ones in the earthquakes that hit the Kumamoto prefecture this week. Pray that the churches in Japan would be able to offer the beautiful gospel story of hope for those searching for truth during this time.

• Our church’s mission is to Welcome sojourners home to the joy of following Jesus together, and our current vision is Expanding the Tent. Pray for us as we pursue this mission and vision together, that the Lord would give us grace and passion to reconnect with Him, with each other, and with our neighbors in the unity of the Spirit. Pray that our church would continue to take steps of faith toward worshiping and fellowshiping together in person, to more deeply experience His presence in community.

• Brother Ching-Wen. We thank the Lord that he has made good progress in his cancer treatment; he no longer requires chemotherapy, and the family has returned to California. Pray that the Lord keeps his condition stable, that the current immunotherapy continues to be effective, and that the children quickly adjust to life back in California. Throughout the five months the family spent in Houston for treatment, brothers and sisters offered constant companionship, encouragement, and prayer; we are deeply grateful for everyone’s support!
• Stay-at-home parents. We thank the Lord for their significant yet often under-appreciated work in the home. May the Lord give them a deep sense of spiritual mission for their families. May their efforts in managing their families bring them abundant joy and fruitful labor in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

• Pray for the Seamen Ministry

1) Pray for the crew members on Arion.

2) Pray for the families of Preach Pahang and Winston Guingas. Pray for the salvation of Richwan Khalife.

• Pray for Douglas & Whitney Wu

1) Pray for their ministry: i) that God would bring more brothers and sisters to serve in their Ministry Workers Training Fellowship, ii) for more youth/young adults to join their online Bible study. PTL that already 5 people have registered! iii) that God would provide a suitable venue for their gospel outreach camp at the end of the year, iv) that God would call an English-speaking pastor to help serve at their church.

2) Pray that God will grant them grace, wisdom, strength, and joy as they walk with the Holy Spirit and serve Him.

3) Pray for the healing of Witney's mother, who is in the final stage of lung adenocarcinoma.

• Pray for the Father-Daughter Night event on August 8. Ask God to guide and oversee the preparations, ensuring everything proceeds smoothly, to move the hearts of more fathers and daughters to attend, to help every pair recognize the God-given influence they hold, build deeper relationships, and create beautiful spiritual memories rooted in love and faith.
• Pray for MER 1 scheduled for September 5–7. May God guide the organizing team in their preparations and ready the hearts of the participating couples, inspiring them to set aside time to gain a deeper understanding of God’s purpose for marriage and to experience renewal and growth in their marital relationships.

• Pray for the needs of our children’s ministry Sunday School team in the upcoming fall quarter. May God prepare and raise up more coworkers who love the Lord and are filled with passion for teaching children and sharing the gospel — especially parents from the younger generation. May they be willing to join and serve together with us in Christ, partnering as one body to disciple the next generation with love and truth, leading them to follow Jesus from an early age.

• Summer Break. Pray for God to give all of our students rest and renewal from the pressures of school. Pray for meaningful time with family, spiritual growth, and opportunities to serve others. Pray also for college students visiting home, that their time would be refreshing and rooted in Christ.

• Father-Daughter Event. Please pray that the fathers in the English congregation can enjoy a night of connection and fun with their daughters; that they would be reminded of their role to lead, bless, and delight in their daughters just as their Heavenly Father does for us.

• Praying for the Cantonese Alpha program that is currently taking place. Pray that our Lord will use the materials and discussion to strengthen the faith of brothers and sisters and open the hearts of many seekers to accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
• Pray for the planning of the 2027 retreat. May the Lord prepare a suitable venue, as well as speakers and a theme that align with His heart. Pray that He would use this retreat to renew the spiritual lives of our brothers and sisters.

• Ps. David Hsu, Ps. Ruth Wu. Pray that the Holy Spirit would anoint and protect their bodies, minds, and spirits as they prepare their sermons for Sunday, Aug. 16.

• Covenant Lutheran Church and its pastor, J.T. Thomas. Pray for their ministry and growth. 
• Houston Chinese Church, and its Lead English Pastor Jason Tarn & Lead Chinese Pastor Thomas Wang. Pray for God’s continuing grace upon them.
